THE CURFEW IS HERE TO STAY!

Image
President Uhuru Kenyatta. Just when Kenyans were hoping, praying and fasting that when President Uhuru Kenyatta gives his briefing today(12th March,2021) he lifts the curfew, he has chosen to extend it by a further 60 days! Kenyans pleaded with Uhuru, endeared themselves to him with words of praise with hopes that he will give in to the desire of their hearts, lifting the curfew. Image
"Sonko is single-handedly opening the IEBC servers!" This is what Kenyans on Twitter are saying after a video of Mike Sonko revealing the dirty Deep State secrets goes viral. The embattled former governor has since lost his good standing with the ruling Jubilee party and in what is seen as a retaliatory move, has been keen on revealing the ruling party's secrets. The former governor, who has a reputation of being brutally and uncomfortably honest, revealed that during the 2017 NASA demos, the government led by Kibicho, "deep state members" and himself bought second- hand vehicles and burnt them in the streets to show how Raila Odinga's supporters were chaotic and disorderly. This comes at a time when DP Ruto's allies, now christened Team Wheelbarrow, have been facing strong backlash and receiving blames over serious chaos that erupted during political...

Are you really "an alumni" of your former institution?

Image
Well, by the fourth word of the title of this article, you might or might not already notice an error. The misuse of the word 'alumni' is among errors that often go unnoticed in the English language. Several people use the word alumni both in singular and plural, and to refer to either a male or a female when referring to people's former learning institutions. Often we hear people say that "I'm an alumni of the such-and-such institution." Years back, I also did not know the right word to use, and it cost me a job. As I was telling the panel about me, I made the mistake of saying that, "I am an alumni of the such-and-such university." One of the panelists asked me to repeat what I said. I proudly obliged, not knowing why he had asked me to do so. After the interview, the gentleman told me to look up the word in a dictionary. I was embarrassed. Well, allow me to politely remind you that one should never be caught saying that he or she is an alumni of a...
